Approximately 5% of women experience at least one episode of candidal vaginitis in their lifetime. Warm, humid summer weather creates an environment conducive to fungal growth, making it easier for yeast to invade the vagina, multiply rapidly, and cause candidal vaginitis.
If you develop candidal vaginitis, adhere to these dietary restrictions:
(1) Avoid spicy foods
Excessive consumption of spicy foods can generate internal heat, leading to accumulation of heat toxins in the organs. This may cause symptoms like itching and pain in the genital area, exacerbating the condition.
(2) Avoid seafood and other "trigger foods"
Fishy or pungent foods like hairtail, shrimp, and crab can exacerbate damp-heat. Consuming them may intensify vulvar itching and hinder inflammation resolution, so they should be avoided.
(3) Avoid sweet and greasy foods
Fatty foods like lard, butter, and cream, as well as high-sugar items such as chocolate and pastries, promote dampness and heat. They increase vaginal discharge and impair treatment effectiveness.
(4) Avoid tobacco and alcohol
Nicotine in tobacco weakens the binding capacity of arterial blood to oxygen, while alcohol exacerbates damp-heat. Both should be strictly avoided. Similarly, alcoholic beverages like fermented rice wine and medicinal wines are unsuitable.
(5) Increase intake of vitamin B-rich foods
Such as wheat, sorghum, water chestnuts, honey, tofu, chicken, leeks, and milk; also consume ample fruits and fresh vegetables.
