What is the surgical method for reducing a large nasal tip?
Based on the size and shape of the rhinophyma, either a three-blade or five-blade scalpel is selected.For larger rhinophyma with a nodular, uneven surface, a five-blade scalpel is preferred; a three-blade scalpel is suitable for flatter rhinophyma surfaces. Adjust the blade depth based on the thickness of connective tissue proliferation: thicker tissue and larger rhinophyma require a longer blade exposure for deeper incisions, while thinner tissue and smaller rhinophyma allow shallower incisions.The practitioner holds the blade in the right hand, maintaining a right angle between the blade edge and the skin surface. Make repeated crisscross incisions across the nasal hump to sever its surface capillaries. Finally, apply pressure with gauze to stop bleeding, cover with Vaseline gauze, then secure with additional gauze and adhesive tape. The Vaseline gauze will naturally fall off after 7-10 days, and the wound will heal.
What precautions should be taken for large nose tip reduction surgery?
If the nose has pustules, antibiotics should be taken first, and surgery should be performed only after the pustules have subsided;
Antibiotics may also be used postoperatively to prevent infection;
Normal recovery typically takes 3 months after surgery;
If the patient is dissatisfied with the first surgery, a second procedure may be performed after a 3-month interval once the wound has healed.
