Eyes are the most expressive feature of one's personality, and clear, bright eyes can be captivating. However, this requires large eyes. For those born with small eyes, canthoplasty is the optimal solution. So, how long is the recovery period for canthoplasty? Let's explore the details below.
Eye plastic surgery specialists explain: Eyelid surgery is a highly precise procedure, requiring relatively longer operating times—typically 1-2 hours.
Sutures from the procedure must remain in place for five days before removal. Therefore, it's advisable to rest for two days post-surgery to allow the eyes ample time to recover. The duration of recovery depends on the individual's healing process. Those with skin that heals quickly may recover faster, while others may take longer—this variation is normal and typically does not exceed one year.
Typically, the recovery period for canthoplasty ranges from 3 to 6 months, with some cases taking up to a year for full recovery. Adhering to post-operative care instructions can shorten recovery time and enhance satisfaction with the results.
Beyond these considerations, the duration of rest required after canthoplasty is significantly influenced by the need for a quiet, comfortable environment for recuperation.
Avoid watching TV or reading newspapers for the first two weeks. When resting in bed, maintain a semi-reclined position to prevent eye strain or excessive swelling caused by a low head position. Mild discomfort at the incision site is normal on the day of surgery but will gradually subside over time. Refrain from taking painkillers immediately, as aspirin-based medications may increase bleeding at the incision site.
