When praised, people experience heightened enthusiasm for learning and work. According to Japan's Asahi Shimbun, Japanese experts discovered this phenomenon relates to the brain region controlling instinctive behavior. When receiving praise and encouragement, the brain becomes more active—a phenomenon observed in both children and adults.Experts from Osaka City University and other institutions conducted this study. They administered two tests to participants, informing them beforehand that these were intelligence tests, while simultaneously analyzing their brain activity with instruments. In the first test, corresponding icons appeared on the computer screen, allowing participants to immediately know whether their answers were correct. Upon answering correctly, reward patterns and encouraging words appeared on the screen. The second test was similar in content, but participants were unaware of their scores and received no praise even for correct answers. Results showed significantly higher brain activity and accuracy rates during the first test. "Receiving praise or commendation, much like monetary rewards, enhances brain flexibility," the researchers stated.
