Sexual Psychological Development in Adolescent Girls: Admiration for the Opposite Sex: Mutual attraction and pursuit between adolescent boys and girls represent a normal stage of sexual physiological development. Upon entering puberty, girls often initially experience feelings of anxiety and unease, appearing shy, reserved, and deeply introspective in social settings. As sexual awareness deepens, they transition from a phase of detachment toward the opposite sex to one of attraction. They begin to feel drawn to the opposite sex and develop an emotional need for closeness. At this stage, their social circles expand or shift from same-sex friends to include opposite-sex friends. They are attracted to distinctive qualities in the opposite sex, such as academic excellence, charm, humor, intelligence, and capability. They exhibit a degree of rationality in selecting opposite-sex friends.
In interactions with male friends, girls experience rich emotional depth and express themselves with remarkable subtlety. They start paying attention to grooming their appearance, using "beauty" to shape their image. In front of males, they present themselves as quiet, dignified, and graceful. During this period, interactions between males and females do not necessarily signify true romantic love. Their engagements with males are mostly driven by psychological needs. They place less emphasis on physical appearance than males do. This reflects the earlier maturation of female sexual psychology compared to males. Once they find someone they are deeply attracted to, some girls become completely devoted to him, loving everything about him and viewing him as an extension of themselves—investing their entire emotional being. Sexual Desire: Upon entering adolescence, the emergence of sexual desire and impulses is a normal physiological and psychological phenomenon in development. For females, interactions with the opposite sex initially do not carry sexual connotations.Their expression of sexual awareness is subtle, developing gradually and slowly, with deeper emotional experiences and less urgent sexual desire. During courtship, women place greater emphasis on psychological connection and emotional exchange between partners. The sexual psychology of adolescent girls includes a pursuit of sexual knowledge: Interest in sexual knowledge arising from sexual maturation is an inevitable product of adolescent sexual psychology.Women tend to be more open than men in their pursuit of sexual knowledge. Most acquire this knowledge in the classroom and frequently discuss sexual topics with friends and mothers. At the onset of adolescence, they rely heavily on their mothers. As they age, they increasingly prefer reading relevant books and publications to gain sexual knowledge.
