Now, his daily responsibilities include another crucial task: checking with family members whether the baby's bowel movements and urination are normal. Though these are everyday chores, Dad Liu's face beams with happiness. It seems that Liu Yiwei, already skilled in cooking, has diversified his talents since becoming a father.
Jing Gangshan: Best buddies with his son
Many dads today capture their child's birth and growth with cameras, and Jing Gangshan is no exception. When his son was born, Jing Gangshan stood in the delivery room "holding the camera steady, just watching." Documenting his child's growth has become one of Jing's greatest joys. "A ninety-minute tape would run continuously," he recalls, "zooming in on the hands one moment, then the feet, then the face."Deeply devoted to his son, Jing Gangshan reflects, "After having a child, I'm willingly tied down." His son hasn't disappointed his handsome dad's efforts—they're now as close as buddies, sharing an exceptionally tight bond.
Guo Tao: His son's nickname is Shitou (Stone)
While having sons or daughters is a natural process, Guo Tao learned his baby was a "pig son" through his mother-in-law's mysterious handwritten notes. During his wife's pregnancy, Guo Tao worked relentlessly, entrusting her entirely to his mother-in-law. He could only make up for his absence by calling his wife. When asked about his feelings upon seeing his son born, Guo Tao exclaimed emotionally: "The moment I laid eyes on my son, I knew it couldn't be wrong. If there had been a mix-up, I'd have found him in the hospital for sure." Confident Dad Guo named his son "Stone" in homage to the movie Crazy Stone. Now, watching his sleeping little Stone give him a faint smile, he's utterly intoxicated with happiness.
"Singing God" Jacky Cheung's Parenting Wisdom
Music superstar Jacky Cheung attended a 20th-anniversary celebration for a formula brand at Shanghai Science and Technology Museum the day before yesterday, appearing as a "good dad." At the event, this "super dad" and "singing god" avoided discussing his entertainment career, instead sharing his "parenting wisdom" with the media.
Writing Nursery Rhymes Just for His Daughter
Since his role this time was not as a singer but as a devoted father, Jacky naturally shared some parenting wisdom. He said, "As parents, we all gain experience raising children. I enjoy spending time with my little one—not just being present, but truly reading him. This communication can be challenging. I really want to establish a way to connect with him, because I believe communicating with children is incredibly important."At home, he often plays games with his daughter, even composing a lively nursery rhyme for her: "One finger, a little caterpillar; two fingers, a white bunny; three fingers, a spotted cat; four fingers, a little swan; five fingers, Mommy's great; clap your hands and laugh." Jacky's warm, on-stage humming drew applause from the entire audience.
Artist Parents Must Let Go of Their Status
Being a celebrity dad is tough, Jacky Zhang admits. Yet he believes: "We can only do our best to protect them and let them live normal childhoods. As artist parents, we must first set aside our celebrity identities. It's hard to adjust at first, but if you embrace being a dad, it becomes natural over time. Then your kids will see you as just a dad who sings, or a dad who works as a salesperson—that's how children view their parents. So fundamentally, there's no difference. It's just that we have to mentally let go of that image."
Six-Year-Old Daughter Already a "Music Critic"
When discussing his two daughters, Jacky Chan proudly revealed that his 18-month-old daughter is very mischievous, much like himself as a child. His six-year-old daughter, however, is quieter and shares her mother's temperament. She has already shown musical talent.Jacky said, "She often watches my performances with me and frequently comments, 'This part wasn't sung well' or 'That part sounded stiff.' Then she'll ask me if she's right. Sigh, I just have to nod." Jacky noted that she has a good ear and is very critical—she should be a music critic. A reporter tentatively asked Jacky if he planned to have another child.Jacky replied, "Parents have their burdens. Raising children is not only time-consuming and physically demanding, but I fear having another child would prevent me from giving my full attention to caring for them."
Family Comes Before Work
In the entertainment industry, unpredictable work schedules and other factors make it difficult for artists to perfectly balance career and family. Jacky, however, is an exception.Jacky believes that regardless of one's profession, family matters should always take priority in one's schedule. Work is inevitable, but beyond family commitments, the remaining time is for work. However, after having children, your focus naturally shifts—it leans more toward the children. You spend time playing with them, talking, singing, and reading.Jacky Zhang states: "When allocating time, one should prioritize family before work. While work is important, it's never-ending. Time spent with family is life's most precious treasure—yet many fail to recognize this."
Avoiding Commercials for His Children
Like many artists, Jacky Zhang prefers his children not appear in commercials."Even if they did commercials, people would recognize them after seeing them on TV. I don't want them to be famous at such a young age. I want them to grow up normally, without constant attention focused on them." As for whether he'd let his daughter pursue a career in the entertainment industry in the future, Jacky admitted: "Of course, when children grow up, they'll have their own ideas and interests. As parents, we can only offer advice; we can't stand in their way.I believe the entertainment industry comes with immense invisible pressure—unlike other fields—because everyone scrutinizes you. Whether people know you or not, they'll judge you. That demands tremendous emotional maturity."
Parenting Requires Discipline
While audiences see the glamorous "God of Pop" on stage, at home Jacky transforms into a "super dad."Jacky Zhang shares, "I wake up in the middle of the night to comfort the kids, change diapers, prepare milk, and feed them. Mealtime is the biggest headache—I finish in five minutes, but they take two hours. I end up pleading, 'Please, hurry up!'"I'd like to ask experts how to handle this." Jacky believes children can always sense genuine affection. For him, the line between love and spoiling is razor-thin. "I'm still learning to balance the two," he admits. Like most parents, he occasionally disciplines his children. "But not as harshly as my mother disciplined me," he clarifies. "I might confine them to their room or withhold treats like candy for a couple of weeks."As parents, we always worry they'll make mistakes—it's for their own good. Sometimes my eldest daughter can reason with me, but you still need some form of punishment system in place. It helps her understand the consequences of her actions. I know she can grasp it eventually, but she won't get it right now—she'll only understand when she's in her twenties or thirties."
