What foods are good for conceiving a son? There's a common belief that men should eat alkaline foods while women should eat acidic foods to increase the chances of having a boy. However, over the years, medical experts have reported little research on how male diet affects future children. Recently, a new study from the Center for Human Nutrition at the University of California, USA, revealed that sperm, as the other half of procreation, means that a man's diet is equally important for the future health of the child.
1. Heavy smoking causes vitamin C deficiency
Countermeasure: When planning to conceive, quit smoking 3-6 months prior. Increase intake of leafy greens and fruits, which are rich in vitamin C.
2. Neglecting vegetables and fruits
Countermeasure: When preparing for pregnancy, develop a balanced nutritional plan that ensures adequate calories, protein, minerals, vitamins, and trace elements. In addition to consuming protein-rich foods like chicken, fish, lean meats, eggs, and soy products, men should also incorporate leafy greens, fruits, and whole grains to ensure the nutrients necessary for sperm development. This maximizes genetic potential and prepares adequate, balanced nutrition for fetal growth and development.
3. Preference for meat-only diets
Countermeasure: Prior to conception, dietary planning should incorporate ample meat while also prioritizing vegetables, fruits, and whole grains—foods that promote an alkaline body environment. This approach ensures intake of key fertility-enhancing nutrients: high-quality protein, essential trace elements, vitamins, minerals, and sufficient energy.
