Anxiety disorder has become a relatively common mental illness in recent years, with consequences no less severe than depression. So what are the symptoms of anxiety disorder?
Anxiety disorder often involves autonomic nervous system symptoms like dizziness, chest tightness, palpitations, shortness of breath, dry mouth, frequent urination, urgency to urinate, sweating, and tremors, along with motor tension. It is a neurotic disorder primarily characterized by widespread and persistent anxiety or recurrent episodes of unease.
Prolonged anxiety can easily lead to other illnesses. Severe anxiety disorders significantly impact patients' daily lives and work. Symptoms vary depending on the disorder's severity. I categorize anxiety symptoms into four levels:
1. Physical Tension: Patients often feel unable to relax.
2. Overactive nervous system: The nervous system often operates at excessive levels, causing autonomic responses to be more intense than in healthy individuals.
3. Recurring unfounded worries about the future: Individuals constantly fret over potential future events.
4. Hypervigilance: They remain perpetually alert to every minor change in their surroundings, which interferes with work and can even disrupt sleep.
It's widely recognized that anxiety disorders severely disrupt daily life. For instance: sufferers lack confidence in their work, hindering progress; they struggle to concentrate, overanalyze every task, and often lack decisive judgment—even losing faith in life itself.
So how can anxiety be alleviated? Here are some suggestions:
First, patients should learn to redirect their focus. When feeling anxious or preoccupied with troubling thoughts, try shifting your attention. Redirection means moving your mind away from current distressing matters toward your interests and hobbies, thereby restoring confidence in life and escaping anxiety.
Second, patients should immerse themselves in nature and practice deep breathing. Sit in the fresh breeze, visualize your chest as an "oxygen sky," and take a deep breath to fill this space—holding it for about three seconds. Then exhale stale air, replacing it with fresh oxygen. You may also visualize inhaling positive energy while exhaling life's pressures. This technique requires consistent daily practice; over time, it effectively alleviates anxiety symptoms. Third, actively engage in physical exercise—preferably jogging in the evening or morning—while avoiding highly competitive sports.
Fourth, dietary therapy. Anxiety sufferers may benefit from consuming more vegetables and fruits, which not only replenish vitamins but also help alleviate anxiety.
Fifth, consider embracing a touch of "Ah Q" mentality when appropriate.
