Nowadays, more and more parents recognize the importance of teaching babies to crawl.Below are several effective techniques to encourage crawling:
Passive Crawling Practice
Place your baby on their stomach on a bed. Tuck a towel under their belly, then gently lift both ends to help them move their arms and legs in coordination. This method quickly teaches proper crawling posture, though it requires significant parental effort.
Encouraging Forward Movement
This is a common tactic moms use when teaching crawling: Place a favorite toy within arm's reach while the baby is on their tummy. Position it so the baby only needs to shift slightly to reach it. Encourage the baby verbally to move forward. When they grab the toy, praise them enthusiastically to reinforce the connection between effort and reward.Next, gradually move the toy farther away while encouraging continued effort. If the baby struggles, gently push their feet to help propel them forward.
Mom Demonstrates Crawling
When teaching crawling, moms shouldn't always stay "high and mighty." Instead, truly "lower yourself" by personally demonstrating crawling techniques and playing together. This makes crawling seem fun, boosting their motivation to learn.
