In a group setting, the chances of losing to others are inherently greater than the chances of winning. Therefore, rather than fixating on being first, what matters most is cultivating a mindset of giving your all to every endeavor.Remember: when you fear your child's failure, you are depriving them of vital growth opportunities. We must not cling to the obsession with first place out of our own fears, thereby unconsciously shackling our children. Instead, we should cultivate their ability to rise after falling and press forward courageously. We must remember: children without resilience in the face of failure will never succeed in life.
II. Philosophical Thinking
Philosophical thinking involves maintaining a spirit of skepticism—never taking anything for granted. Avoid relying solely on intuition; instead of "going with your gut," use theory as a foundation to interpret the world around you. If contemplating unfamiliar concepts yields no insights, it's not because of insufficient intelligence.
III. The Ability to Perceive Happiness
If holding office isn't happiness, nor is amassing wealth, then what is happiness? My teacher taught me: Happiness lies not in how much one acquires, but in the ability to perceive happiness! One who lacks this perception will never find joy, no matter their gains; conversely, one who can perceive happiness will find contentment, however ordinary their circumstances.
IV. Leadership Ability
Leaders are not born, but cultivated. The period before age three is critical for a child's emotional development. Therefore, parents should not focus solely on intellectual development during this time, missing the prime opportunity for learning communication and observing others. Children who learn to communicate well will be popular among peers, whether in kindergarten or school, and will naturally have many friends. This lays the foundation for strong interpersonal relationships in the future.Even if they don't become leaders, they will be popular individuals. Leadership skills require training to strengthen. An aspiring leader needs opportunities to hone their leadership artistry. Encourage your children to join sports teams, scouts, extracurricular activity groups, and other community organizations. There, they will gain experience in interacting with others. However, children should also strive for leadership positions within their areas of interest.
V. Reading Skills
When guiding children onto the path of reading, parents should remember they have only two major tasks: first, to make reading enjoyable for the child; second, to teach them how to read effectively.
VI. Communication Skills
Life's journey is winding. No matter how intelligent or talented a person may be, without the support of others, the likelihood of achieving outstanding success is slim.Without such support, one cannot even discover pathways to higher wisdom. Wise parents understand that when children find communication enjoyable—interacting effortlessly with anyone, embodying unity of mind and body, and harmony between inner and outer selves—their social circles expand, and their future integration into society strengthens. Yet, astute parents also recognize that children always need their family's understanding, assistance, and support.
VII. English Language Proficiency
Language acquisition primarily occurs through substantial comprehensible input, with listening being the most crucial channel for obtaining such input. Therefore, when tutoring children in English, sufficient emphasis should be placed on cultivating their listening comprehension strategies.
VIII. Financial Capability
IX. Self-Discipline
On life's journey, achieving goals may require doing things you dislike or giving up deep passions—creating a sense of "constraint." Yet for survival and objectives, we shouldn't attempt to escape all "constraints." Instead, guided by them, we should advance steadily toward our goals.A person aspiring to achievement who lacks self-control is like a car without a steering wheel or brakes—inevitably veering off course, overstepping boundaries, or even crashing.
Success stems from self-belief. If this principle holds true, the same applies to parent-child relationships. As a parent today, remember: you must believe in yourself and trust your children!
