Many people discard peanut shells after eating, but these shells are actually valuable resources. Throwing them away is a waste. Let's explore some ingenious uses for peanut shells.
1. Starch extraction.Wash clean, mold-free peanut shells with water and air-dry them. Grind them in a crusher, place the powder in a vat, and stir. Add water and knead the mixture, then filter the slurry and squeeze out excess moisture. Settle the paste in clean water to remove impurities. Transfer the sediment to a cloth bag and hang it to drain. Finally, dry it in an oven or under the sun to obtain starch.
2. Cultivating edible fungi. Crush clean peanut shells in a grinder, sterilize them, then pack into plastic bags for inoculating edible fungi like shiitake or oyster mushrooms. Typically, 100 kg of peanut shells can yield about 100 kg of fresh mushrooms, offering considerable profit.
3. Feed formulation. Peanut shells contain crude protein, cellulose, fats, and various vitamins, making them excellent feedstock. After washing, drying, and grinding, they can replace bran or rice husks. Mix peanut shell powder with cornmeal, soybean meal, bran, and appropriate trace elements/feed additives to create compound feed. After chemical preservation treatment, peanut shells can serve as the primary raw material for manufacturing fiberboard. The resulting fiberboard is sturdy, durable, and cost-effective.
5. Medicinal Applications. The compounds within peanut shells exhibit properties that help lower blood pressure and reduce blood lipids.
This concludes our introduction to the versatile uses of peanut shells. We hope this information proves helpful. Wishing you good health and smooth sailing this winter.
