Winter is here, and some women experience cold hands and feet during the colder months. What can be done about this? How can we alleviate cold extremities? Today, we'll share a few tips to help warm up those chilly hands and feet.
If caused by an underlying illness, treating the disease takes priority. For non-disease-related coldness, address it through daily habits: start exercising, incorporate dietary therapy, enjoy medicinal soups, take warm baths, and get massages... Soon your limbs will warm up and your complexion will glow.
Tip 1: Exercise Regularly & Swing Your Arms Frequently
For women, morning exercise is recommended—brisk walking is ideal. Walk at a pace faster than a stroll but slower than a jog, taking long strides while swinging your arms. A 30-minute session boosts blood circulation and metabolism, warming your entire body. This early boost keeps you energized all day and less prone to feeling cold!
You can also try simple stair climbing or jumping jacks for 20 minutes until you break a light sweat—both help strengthen your body's temperature regulation. After working for 40 minutes, stand up and walk around or march in place. Even small movements like wiggling your fingers and toes during work breaks can boost circulation.
Tip 2: Boost Vitamin E Intake
Vitamin E dilates peripheral blood vessels, significantly improving circulation in extremities. However, its effects are gradual—consistent results take about three months, requiring a daily dose of 210-250 IU.
Tip 3: Regularly Massage These 4 Acupoints
1. Rub the Laogong Point. Located in the center of the palm, make a fist with one hand and rub the palm of the other hand until it feels slightly warm. Then switch hands and alternate rubbing both Laogong points.
2. Rub the Yongquan acupoint. Located on the sole of the foot, rub this point vigorously with your palm morning and night, ideally until warmth is felt. Follow by rubbing each toe 100 times. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, most meridians converge at the soles, connecting to all internal organs, tissues, and systems.Stimulating the Yongquan point is particularly effective for tonifying the kidneys, strengthening yang energy, and fortifying tendons and bones. Consistent rubbing of this point can alleviate cold hands and feet. 3. Press and tap the Shenshu points. Located on both sides of the waist, gently tap this point over 100 times on each side.
4. Massage the Qichong point. Located on the inner thigh near the groin, this point lies over an artery. Begin by massaging the Qichong point, then massage the artery itself. Alternate between releasing pressure and applying pressure to the Qichong point until you feel warmth flowing down your leg and foot.
