The trick to flawless eyeliner—prep with pencil, then seal with gel liner.>Whether using pencil, gel, or liquid eyeliner, each has its pros and cons. The choice depends on the desired eye makeup style and personal preference—there's no absolute best or worst. Generally, pencil eyeliner is the easiest to start with, but liquid eyeliner creates a more defined line. Beginners can use pencil as a base and then enhance the line with gel or liquid eyeliner. This not only reduces mistakes but also compensates for the shortcomings of each type.
Two foolproof tricks for flawless inner eyeliner application
1. Place a mirror on the table and look down at an angle to clearly see the inner eyelid space. Rest your elbow on the table and your wrist against your cheek for stability, minimizing hand tremors.
2. While applying inner eyeliner, gently lift your eyelid with your other hand to clearly see the lash line gap. Use smudge-proof gel or liquid eyeliner, filling in small sections from the center outward in short strokes.
Not everyone is blessed with double eyelids and large, round, bright eyes. Different eye shapes require distinct eyeliner techniques. Observe your own eye shape to find the most flattering method—everyone can enhance their eye appeal!
Single Eyelid
1. Due to the eye shape, apply a thicker line until it's visible when your eyes are open.
2. Thicken the line above and below the iris to create vertical depth, making the eyes appear rounder.
3. If the line looks too sharp, blend it with dark eyeshadow or a cotton swab for a softer effect.
Inner Double Eyelids
1. Keep the inner corner line as thin as possible. If the front eyelid is buried, skip the inner corner line.
2. With limited crease width, avoid thick eyeliner; the inner line is relatively more important.
3. Apply double-eyelid tape along the natural crease to widen the fold and create space for eyeliner.
Droopy Eyes
1. Use concealer or foundation to correct the area under the outer corner of the eyelid. Softening shadows can reduce the droopy appearance.
2. Apply thicker eyeliner at the inner corner and extend it outward in a straight line from the outer corner to balance the droopy shape.
3. Avoid applying lower eyeliner whenever possible, but use eyeshadow to add depth.
