Peng Jing, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and director of Chongqing Jingsheng Law Firm, stated that China's current safety standards for children's food are relatively limited, primarily focusing on five categories: infant formula, formula for older infants and young children, infant formula for special medical purposes, infant cereal-based complementary foods, and infant bottled complementary foods. For instance, safety standards for children's consumption of hotpot bases could be established to better safeguard children's dietary safety. Tailored food safety standards should be developed for different age groups, strictly limiting the types and doses of food additives while eliminating pesticide residues and preventing excessive levels of antibiotics, hormones, and heavy metals.
