Various factors—excessive sun exposure, pregnancy, aging, etc.—can cause spots to appear on women's faces. The most common are melasma and freckles, which significantly impact a woman's appearance. Thus, when we notice facial spots, we often seek every possible method to remove them. Laser spot removal is an excellent option among these. So how many laser sessions are needed to achieve results? Let's explore this further.
The number of laser sessions required depends on the individual's specific condition and the underlying cause of the spots. Based on their depth and intensity, spots are categorized as either dermal or epidermal. Consequently, the number of treatments needed varies accordingly.Superficial spots can often be resolved in one session, or at most two. For the deepest types like zygomatic nevi and Nevus of Ota, a course of 3-6 sessions is typically required to achieve optimal results.
Generally, laser spot removal requires multiple treatments.Clinically, it is recommended to undergo a continuous series of 5 sessions at appropriate intervals, ideally once a month. The skin's growth cycle is 28 days, and after each photorejuvenation session, the skin requires time for absorption and regeneration. Each laser spot removal session takes approximately 20 minutes. Recovery is typically achieved after this course of treatment. Post-procedure care should include diligent sun protection, moisturizing, and skincare.
Post-laser spot removal precautions include:
1. Redness and swelling are normal after laser treatment due to targeted energy exposure. Minor bleeding may occur but typically subsides quickly.
2. Apply anti-inflammatory ointment daily. The treated area will gradually form scabs, which may peel off after about a week, revealing pink skin underneath. Maintain cleanliness throughout this process and avoid sun exposure, as it may cause the skin to darken.
3. If pigmentation persists, another whitening and spot-removal treatment can be scheduled approximately two months later.
