Many people hold misconceptions about laser spot removal: they wait to see if it works for others before deciding. However, what works for others may not work for you, and vice versa. This is because each person's spots have different characteristics and body constitutions, leading to varying results.
There are five common types of dark spots, each responding differently to laser treatment. Some spots suitable for laser therapy may react poorly to it, while others may not respond well. Before undergoing laser treatment, it's essential to identify your specific spot type and determine its suitability for laser therapy.
1. For superficial dark spots, try whitening agents like acids, retinoic acid, or vitamin C. After two to three months, you may see some lightening. However, complete improvement often requires laser treatment.
2. Malignant nevi on the cheekbones involve deep dermal pigmentation, similar to Nevus of Ota. Laser treatment is currently the most effective option. However, an initial one-to-two-month hyperpigmentation phase may occur, causing the area to appear darker than before treatment. Patience is required for the pigmentation to fade.
3. Before laser treatment, confirm with your physician the type of dark spots, potential treatment reactions, and required number of sessions. Only proceed after thorough preparation. Beware of overly aggressive doctors who may misdiagnose or prioritize profit; they might recommend laser removal even if it's not the most suitable option for your spots.
