When facial spots appear, many beauty enthusiasts feel under attack, hoping these blemishes vanish quickly to restore flawless skin. Skincare products offer slow and subtle results, making laser spot removal increasingly popular among those seeking solutions. So, what precautions should be taken before and after laser spot removal?
How Laser Spot Removal Works
Lasers generate intense, pulsed visible light. Laser treatment devices emit light at specific wavelengths and energies. Different wavelengths are absorbed by distinct colors or pigments in the skin—for example, freckles readily absorb green light. Since lasers with varying wavelengths serve different functions, seven to eight types are currently used for skin treatments. The commonly mentioned Ruby laser utilizes this principle, employing ruby as the medium. It primarily targets black and brown pigments and spots, binding the light to the pigment to break it down. As the pigment is gradually absorbed by the body, the color of the spots fades.
Pre- and Post-Treatment Considerations for Laser Pigment Removal:
1. Laser cosmetic procedures are not routine beauty treatments. They demand high technical expertise and advanced equipment, so always choose a reputable specialized hospital.
2. Before treatment, maintain consistent sun protection, minimize greasy and spicy foods, and keep a positive mindset.
3. After laser therapy, redness and swelling are normal due to the skin's exposure to concentrated energy. Minor bleeding may occur but will subside quickly.
4. Focus on "repair" during the first 3-4 days post-procedure. Use a non-irritating cleanser to keep the treated area clean and fresh. Apply any prescribed repair ointment. Oral anti-inflammatory medication or antibiotics may be taken if necessary.
5. After one week, scabs will form and begin to shed. Sun protection is absolutely essential at this stage. Apply SPF 20-30 sunscreen whenever outdoors, continuing for at least 3-6 months.
6. Consult your doctor immediately if any unusual symptoms arise. Never self-medicate to avoid irreversible complications.
7. If pigmentation hasn't fully faded, you may undergo another whitening and spot-removal treatment in approximately two months.
