While many are familiar with hemorrhoids, what exactly is a mixed hemorrhoid? Does hemorrhoid treatment always require surgery? What daily precautions should be taken?
What is a Mixed Hemorrhoid?
A mixed hemorrhoid involves both internal and external hemorrhoids with interconnected blood vessels, representing the most severe form of hemorrhoids. It can occur in any individual.
Treating only the internal hemorrhoids without addressing the external ones often leads to impaired blood circulation in the external area, causing swelling or even thrombosis.Moderate hemorrhoids frequently cause swelling and bleeding, with protrusions larger than 1-2 broad beans. Even mildly spicy food or alcohol can trigger swelling, necessitating medication. Severe hemorrhoids involve larger, more numerous protrusions with more frequent symptoms, such as in circumferential hemorrhoids. Medication proves ineffective here, requiring appropriate surgical intervention.
What to Note for Hemorrhoids
1. Establish a Regular Bowel Routine
Defecate at consistent times daily. Focus during bowel movements—avoid reading. Limit each session to under 10 minutes. Cleanse the anal area once daily.
2. Dietary Considerations
Prioritize light, high-fiber foods like vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. Avoid spicy or irritating foods. Drink ample water daily, especially a large glass before bed and upon waking. Abstain from alcohol and refrain from consuming fried or grilled foods.
