According to foreign medical experts, hair dyes not only cause skin cancer but also breast cancer, negatively impact fetal development, and may even lead to birth defects. Therefore, expectant mothers should avoid using hair dyes.
2. Lipstick
Lipstick consists of various oils, waxes, pigments, and fragrances. The oils typically used include lanolin. Lanolin not only absorbs various harmful heavy metal trace elements from the air but may also adsorb E. coli bacteria, allowing them to enter the fetus. Additionally, it possesses a certain degree of permeability. After applying lipstick, harmful substances in the air can easily adhere to the lips and enter the body through saliva, harming the fetus. Given this, pregnant women should avoid wearing lipstick, especially long-term use.
3. Chemical Perm Solutions
During pregnancy, hair becomes exceptionally fragile and prone to shedding. Using chemical perm solutions can exacerbate hair loss. Furthermore, these solutions may disrupt the fetus's normal growth and development, and some women may experience allergic reactions. Therefore, pregnant women should avoid chemical perm solutions.
4. Nail Polish
Pregnant women should also avoid nail polish to prevent harm to the fetus. Most commercially available nail polishes are formulated with nitrocellulose as the base, combined with chemical solvents like acetone, ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, and phthalic acid, along with plasticizers and various dyes. These chemicals possess certain toxic effects on the human body. When pregnant women eat with their hands, toxic chemicals from nail polish can easily enter the body through food. These substances can cross the placenta and enter the fetus via the bloodstream. Over time, this can adversely affect fetal health. Additionally, brittle and easily broken nails in some pregnant women are often caused by nail polish use.
