At 28 weeks, your uterus sits about 8 cm above your navel and 28 cm below your pubic bone. Breast veins become more prominent. Ensure adequate daytime rest and aim for an early bedtime. Elevate your feet whenever resting.
Begin familiarizing yourself with preterm birth information this week.A baby born between 28 and 37 weeks of gestation is considered premature. Prematurity is a major cause of neonatal mortality.
The causes of preterm birth primarily involve factors related to both the mother and the baby.
Fetal factors include: twin or multiple pregnancies, polyhydramnios (excessive amniotic fluid), fetal abnormalities, and abnormal placental positioning such as placenta previa, placental abruption, or placental insufficiency.
Maternal factors include acute infectious diseases, chronic conditions like heart, liver, or kidney disease, severe anemia, pregnancy complications such as preeclampsia, uterine malformations, premature rupture of membranes, ascending vaginal infections, antepartum hemorrhage, sexual activity during pregnancy, excessive physical activity, jobs involving vibration, heavy lifting, trauma, diarrhea, and coughing.
Premature birth not only increases the risk of infant mortality but also impacts the development of the child's nervous system. Therefore, expectant mothers should take this matter seriously.
First, attend regular prenatal checkups to detect and treat conditions early.
Second, maintain good hygiene during pregnancy to prevent infectious diseases and avoid exposure to harmful substances.
Third, avoid excessive fatigue and mental stress.
Additionally, limit sexual activity after 28 weeks of gestation. Prevent physical trauma, excessive activity, and sudden or heavy movements.
Pregnant women with a history of multiple pregnancies or preterm birth should be admitted to the hospital early.
If signs of preterm labor appear, such as lower abdominal pain or vaginal bleeding, go to the hospital immediately and rest in bed. Under a doctor's guidance, use pregnancy-sustaining medications or sedatives to extend the pregnancy as much as possible. Most pregnant women can recover normally with treatment.
