Both Korean embroidery brows and traditional tattooed brows are popular beauty treatments among women, as full brows enhance facial contours and create a more sculpted appearance. So what distinguishes embroidery brows from tattooed brows?
First, in terms of tools: Microblading uses a "single needle" or "triple needle" combined with an electric device to deposit pigment into the skin one hair-like stroke at a time, similar to tattooing. Eyebrow embroidery employs 12 or 16 fine needles arranged at a 45-degree angle to deposit a larger amount of pigment into the skin in a single pass, like embroidery stitches. This technique is entirely manual and requires no electrical assistance.
Second, regarding pigments: Microblading typically uses liquid-based pigments with weaker viscosity. Embroidery employs paste-based pigments with stronger viscosity, allowing pigment to penetrate more easily with the needle and achieve better color retention.
Third, eyebrow tattooing involves inserting needles vertically at a 90-degree angle into the skin, causing noticeable discomfort. Additionally, the number of pigments deposited per insertion is limited, resulting in a longer coloring process. Microblading, however, requires less time as the needles enter the skin at a 45-degree angle, significantly reducing discomfort. The depth of the embroidery needle entering the skin at a 45-degree angle is limited. Conversely, the tattoo needle, due to its vertical insertion, can easily penetrate too deeply. If pigment is accidentally introduced into the deeper layers and mixes with the yellow pigment genes in the subcutaneous tissue, it can cause the color to turn greenish or bluish, which is difficult to remedy.Eyebrow embroidery, however, uses a higher number of stitches per session, making it easier to achieve a smooth and natural effect.
Finally, in terms of longevity, tattooed eyebrows offer a permanent solution, while embroidered eyebrows typically last only two to three years. If you desire a long-lasting result, opt for tattooing. If you prefer to change your look with trends, embroidery is the better choice.
