According to a June 28 report by Yonhap News Agency, South Korean experts recently claimed that Kim Jong-un, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea, underwent six cosmetic surgeries before his public debut to make his appearance more similar to former North Korean leader Kim Il-sung.
Reports indicate that senior North Korean officials stated Kim Jong-un underwent six cosmetic surgeries over the three years preceding his September 2011 public debut, with Kim Il-sung as the model for the alterations.
Ha Tae-kyung further noted that Kim Jong-il's chef, Kenji Fujimoto, remarked after Kim Jong-un's September 2011 appearance that he looked completely different from his appearance during his Swiss studies, rendering him unrecognizable.
The report noted that since Kim Jong-un's formal public debut at the Workers' Party Congress last September, persistent rumors about his plastic surgery have circulated due to his striking resemblance to Kim Il-sung.
