Guipi Pill is a commonly used Chinese patent medicine composed of twelve herbs: Codonopsis, Atractylodes, Astragalus, Longan, Ziziphus, Aquilaria, Angelica, Polygala, Licorice, Poria, Jujube, and Ginger.It fortifies the spleen, nourishes the heart, boosts qi, and replenishes blood. Suitable for symptoms like poor appetite, fatigue, sallow complexion, forgetfulness, insomnia, palpitations, and various bleeding disorders.
Gui Pi Wan also has several new applications:
(1) Neurasthenia. For neurasthenia caused by deficiency of both qi and blood, take 9 grams twice daily. One course of treatment lasts one week, and improvement is typically seen after two courses. Symptoms such as tinnitus, insomnia, and mental fatigue show significant improvement. Recurrence is rare after recovery.
(2) Sinus bradycardia and paroxysmal tachycardia. Gui Pi Wan exhibits antiarrhythmic effects with pronounced bidirectional regulatory properties, treating sinus bradycardia and paroxysmal tachycardia caused by qi and blood deficiency. Dosage: 9 grams per dose, three times daily. One treatment course lasts one week; improvement or recovery typically occurs after two courses.
(3) Menopausal Syndrome. Gui Pi Wan demonstrates significant efficacy in treating menopausal syndrome in women with qi and blood deficiency. Dosage: 9 grams per dose, three times daily. One course of treatment is two weeks.
(4) Traumatic Brain Injury Syndrome. Gui Pi Wan serves as the primary treatment supplemented by Western medicine for traumatic brain injury syndrome.Dosage: 9 grams per dose, three times daily. One course of treatment lasts half a month.
(5) Coronary Heart Disease. Gui Pi Wan demonstrates favorable outcomes for treating coronary heart disease in patients with both qi and blood deficiency. After 20–30 days of administration, subjective symptoms such as palpitations, chest tightness, and chest pain disappear, appetite significantly improves, and electrocardiogram readings show marked enhancement.Dosage: 9 grams per dose, three times daily. One course of treatment lasts half a month. Improvement is typically observed after 1-2 courses. (6) Iron-Deficiency Anemia. Gui Pi Wan also demonstrates marked efficacy for anemia caused by dual deficiency of qi and blood, presenting symptoms such as pallor, palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, headache, fatigue, pale tongue with thin white coating, and thready pulse.Dosage: 9 grams per dose, three times daily. One course of treatment lasts half a month. Improvement is typically seen after 1-2 courses. (7) Gastric and duodenal ulcers. Gui Pi Wan treats gastric and duodenal ulcers. Dosage: 15 grams per dose, dissolved in hot water, three times daily. One course of treatment lasts 15 days.
(8) Refractory Insomnia. Modified Guipi Pill treats refractory insomnia due to deficiency of both qi and blood. Dosage: 9 grams per dose, three times daily. One course of treatment lasts half a month. Generally, 1-2 courses lead to recovery.
Guipi Pills may cause the following side effects:
1. Dry mouth. Sensation of insufficient oral fluids without thirst or minimal water intake.
2. Nasal dryness. Dry nasal passages. Often due to lung heat injury, excessive lung meridian heat, or intense stomach heat. May also result from lung qi deficiency.
3. Constipation.Taking Ginseng Guipi Pills may reduce bowel movements and cause dry stools. Occasional transient digestive symptoms, skin dryness, or abnormal liver function may occur, but these symptoms typically resolve after discontinuing the medication.
Additionally, side effects of Ginseng Guipi Pills may include digestive symptoms, skin dryness, and abnormal liver function. These side effects generally disappear after stopping the medication.
Patients should strictly follow the medication instructions. If the above symptoms occur, there is no need to panic, as these are normal physiological reactions. However, if severe side effects develop, prompt medical attention is necessary for diagnosis.
