The effects of alum:

　　Alum can strongly coagulate protein, clinical use and can be anti-inflammatory, haemostatic, antiperspirant, antidiarrhoeal and used as a hardener. Can be broad-spectrum antibacterial, on a variety of gram-positive cocci and negative bacilli, some anaerobic bacteria, dermatophytes, Candida albicans have varying degrees of inhibition, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus inhibitory obvious; in vitro there is a significant anti-vaginal trichomonas effect. Alum via urethral instillation has haemostatic effect; can also promote ulcer healing; purify turbid raw water.

　　Eliminate phlegm, dry dampness, stop diarrhoea, stop bleeding, detoxification, insecticide. It is used in the treatment of epilepsy, laryngeal paralysis, guilt saliva congestion, hepatitis, jaundice, yellow swelling, gastric and duodenal ulcers, uterine prolapse, leucorrhoea, diarrhoea, epistaxis, mouth and tongue sores, piles and scabies, and injuries caused by water, fire and insects.

　　The role of alum:

　　Alum is mainly used in eliminating phlegm, drying dampness, stopping diarrhoea, stopping bleeding, detoxifying and killing insects. It is used in the treatment of epilepsy, laryngeal paralysis, guilt and congestion of saliva, hepatitis, jaundice, yellow swelling, gastric and duodenal ulcers, uterine prolapse, leucorrhoea, diarrhoea, epistaxis, sores on the tongue and mouth, piles and scabies, and injuries caused by water, fire and insects.

　　External use: detoxicating and killing insects, drying dampness and relieving itching; can be used for eczema.

　　Internal use: stopping bleeding and diarrhoea, dispelling wind and phlegm; used for prolonged diarrhoea, blood in stool, leakage, epilepsy and madness.

　　With 1% alum solution intratracheal drip, with anti-TB drugs, the treatment of infiltrative tuberculosis 19 cases have a certain effect. Especially for exudative lesions better efficacy.
