Oily hair types should wash daily. Individuals with oily hair typically have less hair volume. If washing every other day, oil buildup can cause hair to lie flat against the scalp. Use an oil-control shampoo. For those with an oily scalp but dry hair, pair an oil-control shampoo with a hydrating conditioner.
II. Choosing the Right Shampoo
Dry hair requires hydrating shampoo and conditioner. Avoid excessive blow-drying, as it accelerates moisture loss. Allowing hair to air dry is preferable.
III. Proper Hair Washing Sequence
1. Before washing, comb through hair thoroughly while massaging the scalp. Rinse hair with water first to remove dust, dirt, and dandruff. This reduces shampoo usage during washing, minimizing scalp irritation.
2.Pour a dime-sized amount of shampoo into your palm, add water, and gently rub to create lather. Apply to your head and wash thoroughly, then rinse clean. Repeat this process twice to thoroughly cleanse the scalp and hair strands. Remember never to pour shampoo directly onto your head and scrub, as this can cause localized areas of excessive shampoo concentration. Over time, this may lead to abnormal hair loss as a side effect.
3. Wash your hair using circular motions while massaging the scalp with fingertips to stimulate blood circulation. Never scratch the scalp with fingernails, as this can cause injury. Those with oily scalps should focus on cleansing the roots, while those with dry scalps should avoid prolonged washing to prevent excessive shampoo exposure.
4. Rinse shampoo thoroughly with ample water. Residual shampoo can cause scalp irritation. Hot water is detrimental to the scalp, as high temperatures dehydrate it. If concerned about thorough rinsing, use lukewarm or cold water for multiple rinses.
