One day, someone on a whim discovered the treasure trove of Chinese medicine and aspired to become an acupuncture practitioner. What qualifications are required?
There are two types of TCM practitioner certifications.
Generally, there are two paths to work in acupuncture. The first is obtaining a Licensed Acupuncture Practitioner Certificate, and the second is obtaining a Medical Practitioner Certificate. A single character difference, yet worlds apart.
Licensed Acupuncturist Qualification Certificate
To obtain the first certificate, preparation must begin in high school. Why?Because this qualification is exclusively granted to full-time students enrolled in TCM acupuncture programs at accredited universities. Authentic full-time TCM acupuncture programs typically require meeting undergraduate admission standards. Therefore, aspiring TCM acupuncturists must begin their academic journey in high school. Self-study examinations and adult education programs do not qualify for this certification. The stringent requirements for the TCM Acupuncture Practitioner Certificate ensure its authority, allowing holders to practice in medical institutions, clinics, and similar settings.
