I. Prepare thoroughly before bathing.
In winter, preheat the room to 27-28°C (81-82°F) using air conditioning or heating before bathing. Ensure no drafts reach the baby.
Gather all necessary baby bath items beforehand to avoid interruptions mid-bath. Also, lay out the clothes the baby will wear after bathing. This allows for quick dressing post-bath, minimizing the risk of catching a chill.
When filling the bath, start with cold water and gradually add hot water. Use a baby-specific bath thermometer to check the water temperature.
II. Correct Bathing Steps.
Step 1: Remove the baby's clothes. If washing the hair, keep clothes on or wrap the baby in a towel during this step.
Step 2: If the baby bath tub is on the floor, wash the hair while holding the baby on your lap. Tilt the baby's head forward to prevent water from entering the ears.
Step 3: Wash the face. Use a small towel specifically for washing the baby's face, moving from top to bottom. Avoid any soap, as the baby's facial skin is very sensitive; plain water is sufficient.
Step 4: Wash the body. If the baby can sit, let them sit in the water playing with toys while you bathe them. Wash from top to bottom, paying special attention to folds like the groin area—gently spread them open to clean thoroughly.
Step 5: After bathing, place the baby on a towel and gently pat them dry with your hands.
