Cervicitis is a common gynecological inflammation. Symptoms typically include lower back pain and pelvic heaviness. Severe cases may lead to infertility. Does cervicitis cause increased vaginal discharge? Yes, it can result in increased discharge, significantly impacting women's health. Prompt treatment is essential.
While increased vaginal discharge is a common symptom of cervicitis, not all discharge changes stem from this condition. Women experiencing such symptoms should promptly seek medical examination to identify the cause and receive targeted treatment.
The following conditions may also cause increased vaginal discharge:
1. Uterine fibroids: Increased discharge, lower back pain, lower abdominal heaviness or pain, shorter menstrual cycles, heavier flow, prolonged periods, irregular vaginal bleeding. Large fibroids may cause abdominal distension, palpable masses in the lower abdomen, or symptoms like frequent urination, constipation, bowel discomfort, and infertility.
2. Vaginitis: Increased discharge, thin and frothy or thick and curd-like, odorless or foul-smelling. Itching, burning, or pain during intercourse at the vaginal opening and vulva. Occasional frequent urination, painful urination, or blood in urine.
3. Genital Herpes: Heavy vaginal discharge with one or more small, itchy red papules on the perineum. These develop into herpes lesions that rupture after 3–5 days, forming painful ulcers and scabs. Local lymph nodes swell and become tender, accompanied by fever, general malaise, and headache.
