If there are no abnormalities in the fallopian tubes following ectopic pregnancy surgery, normal childbirth should be possible in the future. It is uncommon for a subsequent pregnancy to result in another ectopic pregnancy due to a previous ectopic pregnancy; statistics indicate this occurs in approximately 3% to 5% of cases.Ectopic pregnancies, particularly tubal pregnancies, primarily occur due to blockages or narrowing within the fallopian tubes.
Naturally, women who have undergone surgery may feel apprehensive about future pregnancies. Regardless, it is crucial to closely monitor the pregnancy process. Should any abnormalities arise, remain calm and seek diagnosis from an OB/GYN as soon as possible.
In cases of tubal pregnancy, normal pregnancy is generally still possible. Women have two fallopian tubes. After surgical removal of the affected tube, pregnancy and childbirth remain possible if the other tube is intact and healthy. However, if both fallopian tubes are compromised, natural fertility may be lost.
After ectopic pregnancy surgery, avoid pregnancy for at least six months to allow the body to recover gradually. Concurrently, undergo examinations to confirm readiness for a normal pregnancy.Experts recommend undergoing tests like hysterosalpingography before pregnancy to confirm fallopian tube patency and rule out gynecological inflammations such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) or peritonitis. If PID or other inflammations are present, it is best to treat them first. Otherwise, conceiving again before the inflammation is fully resolved carries a risk of recurrent ectopic pregnancy.
