Vaginal discharge is a white fluid secreted from the female vagina. It serves as a barometer of a woman's health; abnormal discharge indicates potential disease invasion. What factors cause abnormal vaginal discharge?
Causes of Abnormal Vaginal Discharge
1. Excessive use of cleansing solutions.Frequent vaginal rinsing, especially with cleansers, reduces lactobacilli, disrupting the vaginal microecological balance and causing dysbiosis. 2. Long-term use of sanitary pads. Prolonged use of sanitary pads restricts airflow. Combined with abundant vaginal discharge, this often keeps the vulva moist, irritating the local skin. This disrupts vaginal balance and increases infection risk.
3. Atrophic vaginitis. A small number of women develop this condition due to bilateral ovarian removal, early menopause, or postmenopause. Gradual estrogen deficiency causes the vaginal walls to thin and weaken, making them susceptible to bacterial infections and inflammation, resulting in increased discharge.
4. Malignant tumors. Increased vaginal discharge resembling rice-washing water or bloody fluid with a foul odor may indicate malignant tumors in the reproductive organs.
