Washing your hair too frequently can dry out your scalp and damage your hair. Most people should wash their hair every 2-3 days. Lather the shampoo in your hands before applying it to your hair, gently massaging your scalp for a moment to remove excess sebum. Those with oily hair may increase washing frequency appropriately.
Comb hair thoroughly before washing
This removes dirt from between strands, brings sebum to the surface to form a natural protective layer, and prevents tangles that can cause hair loss.
Rinse with cool water afterward
Excessively hot water can dry out your scalp and hair. Wash with lukewarm water around 39°C (102°F), then rinse the strands with cool water. This closes the cuticle scales, protecting your hair.Avoid combing after washing. If ends tangle, gently separate them with a wide-tooth comb, then let hair air dry naturally.
Blot dry with an old cotton T-shirt
Rubbing hair vigorously with a rough or non-absorbent towel causes friction. Instead, gently pat hair with a clean, old cotton T-shirt to absorb moisture, then let it air dry.
