Traditional Chinese medicine holds that "when vital energy resides within, pathogens cannot invade." When the body's yang energy is deficient and resistance weakens, seasonal weather changes often trigger cold symptoms like nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, and cough. To strengthen immunity and prevent illness, consider massaging the Tianzhong acupoint!
Located on the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian, this point disperses wind, resolves exterior pathogens, promotes qi circulation, and unblocks meridians. The Medical Canon of the Golden Mirror states, "The Taiyang governs the exterior, serving as the body's outer barrier." This means the yang energy of the Taiyang meridian travels along the body surface, acting as a protective barrier. Moreover, the Hand Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian intersects with the Governor Vessel, known as the "Sea of Yang Meridians," both being meridians with abundant yang energy. Located on the chest and back near the heart and lungs, the Tianzhong point is also a convergence point for yang energy. Therefore, to warm and tonify yang qi, dispel wind, and resolve exterior patterns to prevent colds caused by seasonal changes, consider using the Tianzong acupoint!
Located in the scapular region, at the central depression of the infraspinatus fossa (a bony prominence slanting inward and downward can be palpated at the upper third of the scapula, known as the scapular spine; the infraspinatus fossa lies below it), approximately level with the fourth thoracic vertebra.During massage, place the thumb on the acupoint while the other four fingers stabilize the shoulder. Apply moderate pressure with the thumb, massaging until a sensation of soreness and fullness is felt. Each session should last about 2-3 minutes, performed 1-2 times daily. Alternatively, suspended moxibustion with a moxa stick can be used. Light the moxa stick and hold it suspended about 3-5 cm above the acupoint skin. Each moxibustion session lasts approximately 20 minutes, performed 1-2 times daily.
