In the arena of fame and fortune, all kinds of people exist. Particularly, certain schemers are the most difficult to guard against. Below are nine common tactics employed by such individuals. Knowing your enemy is key to victory. Once you recognize their tricks, use wisdom to dismantle their schemes one by one.(1) Spreading Rumors and Stirring Up Trouble Some people are born gossipmongers, finding joy in discussing others' private affairs. They jump to conclusions, grasp at straws, invent stories out of thin air, exaggerate with imagination, and spread baseless rumors—all to sow chaos. Their rumor-mongering often serves ulterior motives, not mere amusement.Such individuals may not necessarily harbor malicious intent, yet their actions often inflict significant harm.
These people pay no heed to the truth of any matter, much like gossip media outlets—twisting black into white, declaring the dead alive. Their sole pleasure lies in becoming the center of attention. From their mouths, any story gains the credibility of "fact."
(2) Sowing Discord and Stirring Trouble
To achieve their goals, they may drive wedges between colleagues, creating discord to profit from the division. They speak one way to you and another to others. They may be friendly to your face but betray you behind your back, spreading rumors about your faults. They love to draw information out of you, then claim it as their own. They can even play the victim in front of you to gain sympathy, twisting your disagreements into your own words! They are like two-headed snakes—their words and actions are inconsistent, and they are masters at shifting with the wind. These schemers are extremely difficult to deal with because we have no idea what they are truly thinking. (3) Flattery and Boasting While not necessarily schemers, these individuals easily gain favor with superiors. Their ability to speak ill of you behind your back to your boss can be devastating.Flatterers might not be considered "schemers" per se, but when their flattery relies on belittling you to please someone else, they become schemers. Many workplace schemers, to package themselves and win their boss's favor, flatter their superiors and often snitch, using tattling to gain proximity to leadership.Such schemers often cater to their superiors' every whim, acting as "spies" or even groveling to gain attention and trust. During their successful flattery phase, they can mask their lack of competence, muddle through, or quietly steal others' achievements at critical moments to advance their careers. The most dangerous sycophants wear a beautiful facade—smoothly flattering everyone, polished and courteous, the smiling tigers of the workplace. At first encounter, these individuals appear genuinely kind, friendly, and deeply concerned about you. Moved by their demeanor, you might confide everything. Yet the moment your interests clash with theirs, they'll ruthlessly trample you.

(4) Hypocritical and Selfish
Such behavior reflects their approach to handling matters, suggesting they may be two-faced with you too. This type is common—primarily opportunists driven by self-interest, embodying typical petty bourgeois mentality.Their actions are driven by petty personal gain. They'll betray their team for a small advantage, even abandoning long-time colleagues. Such individuals prioritize profit, act from self-interest, and are motivated solely by personal gain. They'll resort to any means for petty gains, even committing repulsive acts. Admittedly, for most people, work's primary purpose is earning wages or money. This can blind us with greed, quickly plunging us into its depths and turning us into greedy souls.
Even more despicable are those who harm others without benefiting themselves. Whenever they feel wronged, they immediately drag others down with them—if they lose, everyone loses! If they die, everyone dies! If they fail, everyone fails!! These classic troublemakers resort to harming others to achieve a fleeting sense of balance. In severe cases, such individuals evolve into universally recognized villains.
(5) Opportunists and the Jealous-Hearted
They cling to those in power and abandon those who fall from grace. Such individuals are prone to envy; witnessing others' success drives them to undermine achievements and sabotage progress. In the workplace, they are disruptive troublemakers. The slightest sense of imbalance triggers intense jealousy, driving them to eliminate you to restore equilibrium. When their envy flares, they resort to despicable tactics—even pretending to assist while secretly sabotaging you.
(6) Shifting Blame and Spreading Lies
They stubbornly refuse to admit their own mistakes, instead forcing someone else to take the fall—utterly irresponsible individuals. Sometimes they put on a show of being warm-hearted and helpful in front of others, but they're actually cowards who run away faster than anyone else when trouble arises.
