Normal leukorrhea should be milky white or colourless and transparent, with an erect and smooth texture, like egg white, in small quantities, with a slightly fishy or little smell, and a natural barrier that protects women. So why is the leucorrhoea brown? Experts pointed out that brown leukorrhea is mostly caused by local inflammation, it is best to go to the hospital to do the relevant examination.

Leukorrhea is a white fluid that comes out of a woman's vagina and its main function is to inhibit the growth of bacteria. It is important to take into account the influence of the menstrual cycle on the characteristics of the vaginal discharge.

The cervix produces cervical mucus composed primarily of water, squamous and columnar epithelial cells. Cervical mucus is hormone-dependent, meaning that the amount and nature of its secretion is related to changes in hormone levels.

Under the influence of oestrogen, it is clear, transparent and thin as water, especially during ovulation, when it is not only secreted in abundance, but also elastic and stretchy; when under the influence of progesterone, it is viscous and honeycomb-like.

Understandably women are very sensitive to sexual hygiene, especially when it comes to intercourse. Therefore, when there is any abnormal odour, increased leucorrhoea, irritation, itching or dryness in the vagina, it not only bothers them, but will also be a reason for both partners to avoid sexual activity. Vaginal infections are a major cause of foul smelling leukorrhea.
