1. Cotton Swab Absorption
Roll a soft, clean cotton swab, sterilized cotton wool, or absorbent paper into a small plug. Gently insert it into the ear canal until it touches moisture, absorbing excess water without damaging the ear canal.
2. Chew gum
Continuous chewing creates airflow and pressure within the ear canal, helping water drain out. This method is also quite effective.
3. Single-leg hopping
Lift the leg opposite the affected ear and hop on the remaining leg to dislodge water.Stand on solid ground, tilt your head toward the affected ear, support your body weight on the opposite leg, and perform several consecutive jumps in place to facilitate water drainage.
4. Manipulate the External Ear Canal
Continuously press the tragus with your palm or gently pull the auricle with your fingers.Alternatively, repeatedly open and close your mouth to mobilize the temporomandibular joint. These actions cause the skin of the external auditory canal to move continuously in all directions, disrupting the stability of the water barrier and pressure equilibrium, allowing water to drain out of the canal. 5. Lie on Your Side with the Affected Ear Down When sleeping, lie on your side with the affected ear facing downward. Utilize the force of gravity to help the water in your ear drain out naturally.
6. Hand Pressure Method
Flatten your hand into a palm shape and press it firmly against the affected ear. The air pressure created by your hand against the ear will draw the water out.
8. Atmospheric Pressure Method
Utilize atmospheric pressure by tilting the affected ear upward, pouring water into it, then abruptly draining the water out.
9. Medical Alcohol
To absorb residual water and disinfect, apply 3-6 drops of medical alcohol into the ear canal after bathing. Allow it to sit briefly before letting it drain naturally.
Important Note: Failure to promptly address water in the ear may lead to infections of the external ear canal skin or eardrum. Improper handling, such as unclean ear cleaning, can cause external otitis, external ear abscesses, cerumen impaction, tympanitis, or suppurative otitis media. Seek medical examination and appropriate treatment in such cases.
