The ear is a microcosm of the body, housing 93 acupuncture points. Organs and tissues throughout the body have specific reflex zones on the ear. Daily ear massage promotes blood circulation to the internal organs, reducing discomfort and illness. How to massage the ears for wellness? 1.Gently Scrub the Ear Cup
The ear cup is the center of the ear. Regularly scrubbing this area provides beneficial stimulation to various points, harmonizing the internal organs. Wash your hands thoroughly, trim your nails short, and insert your index or middle finger into the ear canal. Move your finger back and forth, aiming to touch every part of the ear cup. Repeat about 100 times daily.
2. Massage the back of the ear
A groove called the Hyoid groove runs along the back of the ear, corresponding to the spine. Regularly massaging this area mimics spinal捏脊 (spinal捏脊), promoting smoother qi and blood circulation throughout the body. Insert your index and middle fingers into the ear cavity, supporting the Hyoid groove from behind. Use the pad of your thumb to massage this area continuously from top to bottom.
3. Rub the earlobes
Traditional Chinese medicine holds that earlobes are closely linked to the cheeks and mind. Regular earlobe massage can invigorate the mind and enhance facial beauty. Insert your index and middle fingers into the ear canal, place your thumb behind the earlobe, and massage in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions for 50 rotations each.
4. Massage the outer edge of the auricle
The outer edge of the auricle corresponds to the limbs. Individuals with strong, agile limbs typically have a larger outer auricle. Regularly massaging this area can enhance limb strength. Use the entire thumb and a small portion of the index finger to pinch and rub the outer edge of the ear back and forth.
5. Pinch the triangular area
The triangular area of the ear, encompassing the tragus and ear lobe, corresponds to the urinary system. This region contains the Shenmen and Sympathetic acupoints. Regular massage nourishes yin and strengthens the kidneys while regulating the autonomic nervous system and enhancing excretory function. Support the back of the triangular area with your middle and index fingers, press the thumb onto the triangular region, and perform circular massage movements, approximately 50 times per session.
6. Massage the entire ear
After completing the above steps, use your palms to rub the ear approximately 50 times, covering the front, back, top, and bottom. This promotes smoother qi flow throughout the body, aids in relieving chest tightness, pain, and restlessness, and protects cardiovascular health.
Friendly Reminder
If pain occurs during ear massage, it may signal an underlying condition requiring prompt medical evaluation. For facial blemishes, gently knead the earlobe area with thumb and index finger to enhance skin health and alleviate gum swelling.
