In recent years, media reports have repeatedly exposed various irregularities in the micro-cosmetic industry. Concurrently, government enforcement agencies have intensified efforts to investigate and rectify illegal micro-cosmetic establishments.Recently, Fuzhou's Health Commission, Market Regulation Bureau, and Public Security Bureau jointly launched another special enforcement campaign against illegal "micro-cosmetic procedures," investigating 26 unlicensed or over-scope micro-cosmetic institutions. Similar to other regions, most illegal micro-cosmetic establishments in Fuzhou operate covertly within office buildings. They masquerade as cosmetic studios, tattoo parlors, nail salons, or beauty salons to conduct unauthorized procedures.
These illegal establishments stored cosmetic injection products haphazardly in cluttered environments. The products used were of unknown origin, lacking any Chinese instructions on their packaging. Operators generally possessed no medical qualifications, constituting illegal medical practice. Some establishments even operated without business licenses.
According to relevant law enforcement officials, following public reports and media exposure, joint enforcement actions by municipal and county-level health, market regulation, and public security departments commenced on March 17. To date, 26 unlicensed or over-scope operations suspected of illegal activities have been investigated. These establishments face fines of up to 100,000 yuan, with severe cases subject to criminal penalties.
The editors of Public Health Network believe that to rectify the chaos in the micro-cosmetic surgery market, relevant departments must not only intensify enforcement efforts to maintain high pressure but also urge consumers seeking beauty treatments to be vigilant. They should choose legitimate, licensed medical institutions for cosmetic procedures. If such illegal establishments are discovered, they should report them to the relevant authorities via hotlines.
