Some small shops or toy stores often sell toys depicting grotesque monsters or hideous creatures. Because children find them appealing, some parents readily purchase these toys for their children.
In fact, allowing young children to play with ugly toys may adversely affect their physical and mental well-being.The reason is that children's values and aesthetic sense are closely tied to the people and things they encounter from an early age. Due to their limited discernment, if we provide children with ugly toys or those featuring violence and gore, they may naturally assume these represent behaviors endorsed by adults. They could then consciously or unconsciously mimic such actions in daily life, leading to aggressive behaviors.
Research has shown that frequent exposure to "cathartic toys" (those designed to help children release inner psychological tension) can indeed heighten aggression. For instance: When parents buy boys toys like realistic toy guns, swords, or machetes, children often use these "weapons" to gesture at peers during play;Toys shaped like ugly animals may evoke disgust or fear in children, leading them to angrily slam or throw these toys. Such "animal abuse" behavior may plant seeds of cruelty toward the weak from an early age, fostering a tendency toward combative and impulsively aggressive actions.Research also indicates that children with solitary or unsociable personalities seem more prone to becoming obsessed with such toys. This can exacerbate their introverted tendencies, negatively impacting their mental health.
Therefore, parents are advised against purchasing these types of toys for their children.
