Three Major Causes of Nasolabial Folds
Location of Nasolabial Folds: These wrinkles run from the sides of the nostrils to the corners of the mouth. Astrology suggests that individuals with deep nasolabial folds speak with greater authority and are suited for leadership roles, hence the name.
Cause 1: Excessive facial expressions. Some women in their early twenties already show noticeable nasolabial folds. Why? Simply put: if the lines extend from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth, it's from smiling too much. If they extend downward from the corners of the mouth, it's time to examine whether you frequently purse or pout your lips.
Cause 2: Collagen loss. After age 25, women's skin begins losing moisture and collagen. By age 35, nasolabial folds gradually deepen. Beyond genetics, aging is the primary factor. As we age, collagen and moisture content in the skin gradually diminish, while subcutaneous fat atrophies and sags. This leads to skin laxity and aging, creating depressions on the skin's surface that form nasolabial folds.
Cause 3: Irregular Lifestyle Habits. Some individuals spend prolonged periods facing computers, work late nights, or stay up for social gatherings. These unhealthy habits accelerate the appearance of nasolabial folds.
