Editor's Note: My makeup drawer is overflowing with mascaras and eyeshadows, many nearing expiration or dried out. Such a waste! Like many of you, I love buying mascaras. But what to do when they dry out? I used to be frustrated—mascaras aren't cheap, and having them go to waste after just a month felt terrible.I saw a TV segment about reviving dried-out mascara and want to share the methods now.
Method 1: Eye Drops Method
Add eye drops. Just 2 drops are enough, then shake well. Remember not to press too hard—too much liquid will ruin the waterproof effect and leave you looking like a panda!
Method 2:Perfume Method
Add just 2 drops of perfume and shake well. This works for those with non-sensitive eyes. If you're allergic to alcohol or have sensitive skin, stick to the previous methods!
3: Warm Water Method
Some might ask why not use plain water. I tried purified water before, but it separated the mascara into two parts—water doesn't dissolve in mascara.Otherwise, how could it be called waterproof mascara!
The correct method is: Heat water from a water dispenser, add 1-2 drops, screw the cap tightly, and shake well. I've done this with many tubes of mascara, and it works pretty well!
Four:Toner Method
Learned this trick from TV too. Apparently, just 2-3 drops can revive dried-out mascara. But be careful with the amount—don't add too much, or the mascara will become too runny to apply. This is especially true for fiber-infused formulas.
5: Proper Daily Usage
When applying, don't pull the wand straight out—slowly twist it out of the tube. This prevents excess air from entering the bottle, effectively keeping your mascara from drying out~~!!^_^ Remember to twist it back in the same way after use. Don't rush it! This not only prevents drying but also helps you use up every last bit. When applying mascara, avoid exposing the tube opening to airflow—otherwise it'll dry out in under a month. Use a zigzag motion to brush, which not only creates beautiful lashes but also ensures full coverage. Brands typically recommend using mascara within three months of opening, as airborne bacteria can multiply rapidly inside the tube. This explains why many girls experience eye irritation after using mascara for a while. Therefore, it's advisable to replace your mascara after three months of use. That's precisely why I avoid buying expensive mascaras now! Haha, as long as it delivers volume, length, and reliable waterproof/smudge-proof performance, it's perfectly fine.
