Many women experience various types of abdominal pain in daily life, often dismissing it with simple remedies without paying close attention. Abdominal pain in women can stem from numerous causes, with different locations and symptoms indicating distinct conditions. Below, gynecological experts outline several common causes of abdominal pain, hoping to raise awareness and emphasize the importance of women's health. 1. Ovulatory Pain The two weeks before menstruation typically coincide with the ovulation period.During this time, the follicle ruptures, and the follicular fluid can irritate the peritoneum. This causes mild abdominal pain that alternates sides and occurs monthly. It often presents as a dull ache, a dull pain, or a sensation of heaviness on one side.. Lasting from a few hours to no more than two days, this pain is physiological and requires no intervention.
3. Dysmenorrhea
Dysmenorrhea is classified as primary or secondary. Primary dysmenorrhea is common in unmarried adolescents and is related to prostaglandin levels in the body, often improving after marriage and childbirth. If dysmenorrhea worsens after marriage, it may indicate gynecological issues.
4. IUD Embedding
After age 40, the cervix and uterine body gradually atrophy while the IUD remains unchanged in size. This can cause the device to become lodged within the uterus or even migrate, accompanied by symptoms like lower back pain, abdominal pain, a sensation of heaviness in the lower abdomen, or irregular bleeding. This condition is known as IUD embedding. The longer the duration since menopause, the higher the risk of embedding and the greater the difficulty in removal.
5. Ovarian Corpus Luteum Rupture
This occurs due to significant hemorrhage within the corpus luteum, causing sudden lower abdominal or unilateral abdominal pain. Severe cases may lead to shock. Ovarian corpus luteum rupture predominantly occurs between days 20-26 of the menstrual cycle, presenting with lower abdominal pain.
