The average male penis length typically ranges between 14 and 15 centimeters, facilitating satisfactory sexual relations with one's partner. However, many relationships suffer discord due to penile shortness, often leading to marital breakdown and high divorce rates. What causes penile shortness in men? How can men increase penis size?
What Constitutes a Small Penis?
A penis shorter than 2.5 cm before puberty or shorter than 5 cm after puberty, accompanied by abnormal development and lack of erectile function; particularly when secondary sexual characteristics are underdeveloped, sexual dysfunction is present, fertility is absent, and no sperm is produced—only then can it be considered abnormal penile development.
Four Major Causes of Micropenis
1. Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism: This occurs when lesions in the hypothalamus or pituitary gland prevent the secretion of testosterone signals.
2. Hypergonadotropic hypogonadism originating from testicular pathology. Here, the hypothalamus and pituitary function normally and send strong signals, but diseased testes cannot execute commands to produce sex hormones and sperm.
3. Partial androgen insensitivity syndrome, where the penis is insensitive to androgens. Testosterone levels are normal, but secondary sexual characteristics are abnormal, and hypospadias may occur.
4. Idiopathic micropenis, whose cause remains unknown.
Risks of a Small Penis in Men
1. An excessively small penis often leads to phimosis or paraphimosis. These conditions not only cause balanitis and prostatitis but also trigger a series of male health issues, including painful intercourse, scrotal pain, and poor testicular development.
2. Poor penile development during adolescence, resulting in a small penis, often causes psychological inferiority and depression in men. They may avoid public bathhouses, swimming pools, using restrooms in crowded places, and fear discrimination from sexual partners. Over time, this can lead to serious physical and mental health issues such as sexual inferiority and frigidity.
3. A small penis not only directly impacts sexual quality but can even disrupt family relationships. Incomplete statistics indicate that 39% of divorces in China involve sexual incompatibility due to male genital size. Additionally, excessive foreskin easily transfers bacteria into the female vagina, causing various gynecological infections and severely damaging marital happiness.
Dietary Therapy for Penile Thickening
Use animal penises and testicles (e.g., ox penis, dog penis, deer penis, sheep kidneys, chicken testicles). Dry them at low temperatures, grind into fine powder, and take 6g–10g per dose, 1–2 times daily before meals. Alternatively, stew fresh ingredients for consumption.Alternatively, combine with goji berries, Polygonum multiflorum, or Cistanche deserticola to make soups. Long-term consumption yields better results.
Regular intake of beef, mutton, dog meat, and soy products may promote penile and secondary sexual characteristic development. Select one of the following: pig, sheep, or dog testicles and placenta. Roast until dry, grind into powder, and swallow 2g twice daily. Long-term use provides similar efficacy.
Increase intake of high-protein foods. Prepare soups with epimedium, cistanche, and calcined dragon bone.
Supplement with corresponding foods during androgen therapy.
Which foods are rich in androgens?
Animal offal. Contains significant cholesterol, a key component in sex hormone synthesis.Additionally, they contain adrenaline and sex hormones that promote the division and maturation of spermatogonia.
Zinc-rich foods. Oysters are the top zinc source, while other foods like beef, milk, chicken, chicken liver, egg yolks, shellfish, peanuts, grains, legumes, potatoes, vegetables, and brown sugar also contain significant amounts of zinc.
Foods rich in arginine. Foods abundant in arginine include eel, catfish, loach, sea cucumber, cuttlefish, octopus, silkworm pupae, chicken, frozen tofu, laver, and peas.
Foods rich in calcium. Foods high in calcium include dried shrimp, salted eggs, egg yolks, dairy products, soybeans, kelp, and sesame paste.
Vitamin-rich foods. Vitamins A, E, and C help delay aging and prevent sexual function decline, and are mostly found in fresh vegetables and fruits.
