To erase the signs of aging and preserve beautiful breast contours, some women go to great lengths, employing various methods like exercise, massage, and cosmetic surgery. However, medical aesthetics experts caution that certain unhealthy lifestyle habits are the real culprits behind increasingly smaller breasts. So what causes breasts to shrink?
First: Insufficient Protein Intake
A diet that avoids oils and meats may slim your waist, but it could also cause your breasts to "shrink." Consuming protein- and fat-rich foods like eggs, fish, lean meats, peanuts, walnuts, and beans is essential for plumping up small, flat breasts.
Second: Incorrect Massage Techniques
Massage can promote breast fullness, but careless patting or downward strokes will only make breasts smaller. The correct method involves applying massage cream to the breasts and then using upward circular motions along the breast tissue.
Third: Improper Medication Use
Using birth control pills to treat acne or to increase breast size is inadvisable. These pills primarily contain estrogen and progesterone. Long-term use disrupts hormonal balance, causing menstrual irregularities and potentially reducing breast size.
Fourth: Ill-Fitting Bras and Incorrect Wearing Methods
Many women purchase bras without trying them on. In fact, bras that are too small can hinder breast development, while consistently wearing bras that are too large may lead to sagging. As women age, or experience changes before/after marriage or pregnancy, breast size may fluctuate. Adjusting bra size and trying bras on before purchase is essential during these periods.
When putting on a bra, don't just snap it closed carelessly. First fasten the bra, then adjust the straps. Lean forward and use your hands to gently guide the entire breast and surrounding tissue into the cups. This ensures a full, rounded shape and prevents breast tissue from shifting outward, which can make breasts appear smaller over time.
Fifth: Sports Injuries
Moderate exercise benefits breast health, but excessive activity or improper sports bra wear can cause harm. Some find bras cumbersome during workouts and go braless, which may distort breast contours. Activities like running or jumping rope require special attention to protect the chest and prevent sagging.
