Scallions + Tofu, Spinach + Tofu
Do not mix scallions with tofu, nor cook spinach and tofu together in soup. Oxalic acid in scallions and spinach readily binds with calcium in tofu to form insoluble calcium oxalate, impairing calcium absorption. Long-term consumption may lead to kidney stones.
Tomatoes + Cucumbers
Tomatoes are rich in vitamin C, while cucumbers contain enzymes that break down vitamin C. Eating them together hinders vitamin C absorption.
Cucumber + Peanuts
Cucumbers are cold-natured foods, while peanuts contain high levels of oil. The interaction between cold-natured foods and oils can easily cause diarrhea.
Chili Peppers + Cucumber, Chili Peppers + Pumpkin
Chili peppers are rich in vitamin C. Eating them with cucumbers can impair the body's absorption of vitamin C.
Pumpkin contains abundant vitamin C-degrading enzymes, which can also destroy the vitamin C in chili peppers when consumed together.
Spinach + Dried Shrimp Flakes
Spinach contains significant oxalic acid, while dried shrimp flakes are rich in calcium. Eating them together can easily form calcium oxalate precipitation, hindering calcium absorption.
Banana + Potato
Consuming banana and potato together may cause facial spots.
Red Bean + Salt
Red beans possess medicinal properties that enhance cardiac function, promote diuresis, and reduce swelling. However, adding salt diminishes these effects.
Millet + Almonds
Millet strengthens the spleen, harmonizes the stomach, and promotes restful sleep. Almonds are an excellent remedy for wind-cold lung diseases, clearing heat and detoxifying. However, consuming them together can cause vomiting and nausea.
Soy Milk + Egg Whites
Soy milk contains casein, which inhibits the body's absorption of protein from egg whites.
