Spring may be a season of blooming flowers and pleasant warmth, but for those with allergic rhinitis, it can be quite uncomfortable. Mild symptoms include sneezing, runny nose, and nasal congestion, while more severe cases may cause skin redness, swelling, itching, and other distressing symptoms.
How can we reduce the occurrence of allergic rhinitis in spring?
1. Minimize exposure to allergens
Once you know what triggers your allergies, avoid contact with them whenever possible. When going outdoors, wearing a mask is highly recommended.
For pet owners, limit your pets' access to certain areas of your home.
2. Regularly remove dust mites
Bedding accumulates dust mites over time. When the sun is out, air your bedding to eliminate these mites and effectively prevent allergic rhinitis.
3. Increase physical activity
Why does allergic rhinitis occur?Primarily due to weaker physical constitution. Therefore, individuals prone to allergies should strengthen their physical fitness. Since outdoor allergens are abundant, you can also choose to exercise indoors—such as jumping rope, doing sit-ups, or practicing yoga.
4. Dietary Adjustments
Dietary adjustments are also crucial for reducing the occurrence of allergic rhinitis.Regularly consume foods that nourish qi and benefit the lungs, such as longan, white fungus, peanuts, and wood ear mushrooms. Avoid raw, cold dishes, and frozen foods. Also minimize consumption of fish, shrimp, and other foods that may trigger allergic reactions.
