We all know spring is a highly humid season. If we neglect health maintenance during this time, excessive dampness may accumulate within the body. Excessive internal dampness can easily lead to lethargy and weight gain, and in severe cases, trigger a series of illnesses. Therefore, it's best to avoid it in daily life. Recently, I've heard that certain foods can exacerbate internal dampness. Let's take a look below.
Foods That Increase Internal Dampness
Cold-Natured Foods
When internal dampness is already high, certain foods should be avoided, with cold-natured foods being prime examples. Consuming cold-natured foods causes the body to absorb more dampness, inevitably increasing its accumulation. Common cold-natured foods include kiwi fruit, cantaloupe, and grapefruit.
Cold Beverages
If your dampness is more pronounced than others', it's best to avoid cold drinks. They can easily worsen internal dampness. Even when the weather is hot and you crave something cold to cool down, exercise restraint and steer clear of cold beverages.
Sweets
Studies indicate that individuals who frequently consume sweets tend to have higher levels of dampness in their bodies. Therefore, if you already have dampness and wish to prevent it from worsening, it's best to avoid sweets altogether. No matter how much you crave them, refraining is the better choice.
