It's important to understand that fat is a soft tissue and cannot provide substantial support. Therefore, autologous fat transfer for chin augmentation can only achieve limited enhancement. Surgeons recommend that the optimal indications for autologous fat transfer in chin augmentation surgery are for chin contouring, including cases where the chin lacks fullness, requires only slight lengthening, or needs midline correction.
Since autologous fat is harvested from the patient's own body, tissue rejection is uncommon. However, achieving optimal results requires proper postoperative care to ensure the desired aesthetic outcome.
Post-operative care for autologous fat transfer chin augmentation:
1. Avoid strenuous exercise for a short period after autologous fat chin augmentation;
2. Normal swelling will occur post-operatively, typically subsiding within about one week for a natural recovery;
3. Maintain your regular skincare routine post-procedure, but avoid massaging the injection sites;
4. For the first 24 hours, avoid touching the injection areas to allow the shape to stabilize;
5. Keep the treated area dry for one week, avoid squeezing it, and refrain from consuming seafood, spicy foods, beef, lamb, tobacco, alcohol, or other irritants during this period;
6. Since autologous fat transfer for chin augmentation involves fat harvesting, an additional incision site will be present. Maintain cleanliness and dryness at this site to prevent infection;
7. If taking aspirin or similar anticoagulants, bruising and bleeding at the injection site may occur more easily. Discontinue these medications several days prior to the procedure.
