Modern pharmacological research suggests it can restore the weight of degenerated immune organs in animals to normal levels, thereby enhancing cellular and humoral immune functions. Reduced immune function is a primary cause of disease and aging. The impact of Eclipta prostrata on immunity may form the pharmacological basis for its health-promoting, tonifying, and longevity-enhancing properties. As a tonic, Eclipta prostrata can be prepared using the following methods and formulas.
Eclipta and Ginger Honey Juice: Take fresh Eclipta herb, remove impurities, wash thoroughly, chop finely, and mash into a paste. Place the paste into a sterilized gauze bag, squeeze out the juice, and mix with a small amount of honey and minced ginger to form a paste. Dosage may be adjusted as needed. Take 2-3 teaspoons twice daily. May be taken with warm water or a small amount of warm rice wine. This remedy treats premature graying caused by kidney deficiency.
Eclipta Honey Juice: Mix equal parts fresh Eclipta juice and honey. Take 20ml per dose, 3-4 times daily. This aids in treating diphtheria.
Eclipta Five-Seed Decoction: Combine 10g each of Eclipta herb, Schisandra berries, Cuscuta seeds, and Biota seeds,20g each of Ligustrum fruit and Goji berries. Simmer in a clay pot for 20 minutes, strain, and drink the liquid. Take one dose daily for 5-7 consecutive days. This formula treats dizziness, blurred vision, insomnia, frequent dreaming, premature graying of hair and beard, and weakness in the lower back and knees caused by liver and kidney deficiency.
Avoid using the above formulas if symptoms include indigestion or diarrhea caused by spleen and stomach deficiency.
