Korean-style double eyelid surgery is currently the most popular method for creating double eyelids. This procedure not only enhances eye shape but also creates the effect of lifted eyelashes. However, it is not suitable for everyone seeking perfect double eyelids. Here are ten contraindications for Korean-style double eyelid surgery:
1. Individuals with overly protruding or sunken eyeballs, or retracted eyelids, often achieve unsatisfactory results with Korean-style double eyelid surgery and are therefore not recommended for the procedure.
2. Those with a pronounced tendency to develop keloid scars.
3. Individuals who are too old or have poor physical health should not undergo Korean-style double eyelid surgery.
4. Those with unrealistic expectations for the surgical outcome or who lack consent from themselves or family members should not proceed with Korean-style double eyelid surgery.
5. Patients with severe liver, kidney, heart, or brain diseases; blood disorders; uncontrolled diabetes; or infectious diseases should not undergo Korean-style double eyelid surgery.
6. Individuals with skin inflammation at the surgical site.
7. Women undergoing menstruation or pregnancy are at increased risk of bleeding during Korean-style double eyelid surgery and should not proceed.
8. Individuals with congenital amblyopia or acute/chronic eye diseases are not eligible for Korean-style double eyelid surgery.
9. Patients with facial nerve disorders or mental disorders are not eligible for Korean-style double eyelid surgery.
10. Ptosis (drooping eyelid) cannot be corrected through Korean-style double eyelid surgery alone and typically requires additional eyelid procedures.
