Generally, cancer development is closely linked to daily dietary habits. A cancer-preventive diet centered on plant-based foods with animal products as a supplement includes: 300g of grains daily (one-third legumes, one-third flour-based products); 500g of vegetables, with at least 300g being leafy greens; 200g of animal-based foods such as fish, poultry, eggs, and lean meat;250 grams of milk; and 50 grams of soy products.
Editor's Note: Additionally, dietary therapy can appropriately supplement antioxidant nutrients like Vitamin C and carotenoids. Consuming seeds, nuts, and foods rich in Vitamin E and phytochemicals—such as tea leaves, hawthorn berries, goji berries, ginkgo nuts, soybeans, and medicinal mushrooms like Ganoderma lucidum—can boost immunity and help prevent cancer.
Below are eight categories of foods prone to carcinogenic effects:
1. Pickled foods: Dimethylnitrosamine (DNN) produced in salted fish can convert into the carcinogen dimethylnitrosamine (DMN) within the body. Salted eggs and pickled vegetables similarly contain carcinogens and should be minimized.Grilled beef, duck, lamb, goose, suckling pig, and lamb skewers contain potent carcinogens and should be consumed sparingly. Smoked foods: Items like smoked pork, liver, fish, eggs, and dried tofu contain the carcinogen benzopyrene. Regular consumption increases the risk of esophageal and stomach cancer.
IV. Deep-fried foods: Overcooking produces polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), carcinogens. Burnt coffee increases benzopyrene levels by 20 times. Foods like fried pancakes, stinky tofu, fried taro slices, and fried dough sticks often use repeatedly heated oil, which generates carcinogens at high temperatures.
5. Moldy Substances: Foods like rice, wheat, beans, corn, and peanuts are prone to moisture and mold growth. When contaminated by mold, they produce the carcinogenic toxin aflatoxin.
6. Leftover Cooked Cabbage and Pickled Vegetables: These can generate nitrites, which convert into carcinogenic nitrosamines within the body.
7.Betel nuts: Chewing betel nuts is a contributing factor to oral cancer.
8. Repeatedly boiled water: Water boiled multiple times contains nitrites, which form carcinogenic nitrosamines when ingested.
Experts note that a single bag of fried potato chips may contain acrylamide levels 500 times the safe threshold.
Beyond these eight carcinogenic food categories, certain food combinations may also pose cancer risks. Below are four food pairings that increase cancer susceptibility.
Seafood and Beer: Seafood contains purines and nucleotides, while beer is rich in vitamin B1—a key catalyst for breaking down these compounds. When consumed together, they promote the binding of harmful substances, potentially forming urinary tract stones.
Ham and Lactic Acid Beverages: Those who regularly eat sandwiches with yogurt for breakfast should be cautious. Consuming ham, bacon, or similar meats in sandwiches alongside lactic acid beverages (containing organic acids) increases cancer risk.
Editor's Note: During meat processing, nitrates are used to prevent spoilage and inhibit botulinum growth. When nitrates encounter organic acids, they transform into carcinogenic nitrosamines.
Milk and Chocolate: Milk is rich in protein and calcium, while chocolate contains oxalic acid. When consumed together, they combine to form insoluble calcium oxalate, which can cause diarrhea, dry hair, and other symptoms that affect growth and development.
Fruit and Seafood: Consuming seafood alongside grapes, hawthorn berries, pomegranates, persimmons, or similar fruits can cause vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. This occurs because the tannic acid in these fruits reacts with proteins in seafood, forming insoluble, indigestible compounds.
